Clean….
27 11 2009Do you ever wake up in the morning and everything just seems perfect? I don’t mean that there is nothing wrong in your life, but I mean that you wake up to your beautiful daughter’s smile and you look outside and the sun is shining through the windows after a heavy rain the night before? The trees and grass seem to have a sort of glow to them. You ask yourself, with a day starting so beautiful how can anything else for the rest of the day ruin it? It is mornings like these that I love! Everything seems just right. Not too loud but not too quiet either. You can hear the soft rumble of the cars in the background, and the dog that always has to bark for no apparent reason. Its days like these where I would just like to sit here, with no other distractions, drinking a nice hot cup of coffee and playing with my little girl. Today is going to be a good day!

Teeth…and the damn problems they cause
20 11 2009So for the past couple of days, I have had the worst toothache ever. I don’t mean the type of toothache that hurts when you eat something cold or hot, or even an ache from sudden cold air. I am talking about the throbbing, migraine creating, sore neck and body toothache from hell. I went and saw the dentist three days ago and after all of the x-rays and them digging around in my mouth, they came to the conclusion that it was from my wisdom tooth that recently decided to come in. I am pretty tolerant to pain, but this has been the worst. I haven’t slept a full night for over a week. Last night was 2 and a half hours and the night before was three. I have an appt. on Monday to have the wisdom tooth removed but until then I am up a certain creek with no paddle. After talking to different people and using their remedies with no success, I turned to the internet. Some of the “remedies” that people have used, or recommend are completely “off the wall” and in no way would I ever try them. There are however, several different ones that I would try:
1. Cold water- works like a charm, but I think that I have drank more water in the past four days then I have in my entire life! The only problem with the water is that instead of waking up with a toothache in the middle of the night, you are waking up ten times to go to the bathroom.
2. Orajel (The severe pain stuff)- This worked for the first day or two, but it wears off fast. It also seems like my body got used to it, and then it didn’t work at all.
3. Salt water gargle- Yeah this worked, for about ten minutes. Then the pain came right back
4. Grapefruit Seed Extract- Seemed to work in the beginning, but it had to be really strong. You cant really notice it mixed with water unless it is. this helps to numb the pain a bit, but its supposed to kill any bacteria more then anything.
5. Vanilla Extract- Its supposed to kill any bacteria in your mouth because of the alcohol and will also numb the area were the pain is. I followed the directions, I tried putting a bit on a cotton swab and applying directly to the tooth. After about 15 minutes, I found myself taking big swigs of it, which did result in numbing the toothache, along with the rest of my mouth lol.
6. Lemon Extract- HOLY S. yeah it worked the best, but it burnt like hell! I used a cotton swab to begin with and the extract consists of 80% alcohol. I felt all 80% lol. After using a small cotton swab, I switched to a bigger one and left in my mouth, that seemed to do the trick for a bit.
Normally, I am not the type of person that would talk about subjects like this, but after living in hell for a week so far, I had to put my experiences on here just in case someone else was going through the same thing. I have a dentist appt. on Monday……hope it gets here fast!

Home….
11 11 2009I just got done watching the most amazing movie ever. It is definitely my new favorite! The movie is called Home. I have never seen a video packed with as much information as this one. It shows the raw truth of how man kind is depleting nature. It is so devastating. The movie is around an hour and a half long, but I promise you that it will change the way that you think about our daily lives. I would love to hear your comments on it, hopefully you will pass it along….Until next time….

Another fine example of Man-Kind VS Nature
29 10 2009For those of you who dont know me, I have always been a very avid fisherman and love the outdoors. I used to volunteer at the Fish hatchery and always do my part to help the environment when possible. So after reading the article in the Oregonian regarding introducing fish into the Deschutes Basin, I got a bit flustered.
Lets be clear about a couple of things. First of all, I fully support the fish hatcheries and the work that they do. In some instances, it has been the fish hatchery that re-established an almost non-existent run of fish. Fish Hatcheries provide a big help to the spawning process by removing several of the natural obstacles that Salmon and Steelhead have to face when returning to their home rivers to spawn. Less then 2% of the salmon return to their spawning grounds to complete the spawning process.
Again, this is another instance where man-kind has nearly depleted another part of nature. I remember when I was younger and my grandpa was still alive, we used to sit around and talk about how many Salmon and Steelhead were around when he was younger. His exact words were, “we could walk across the river on the backs of Salmon, there were so many”. Now it is just considered a dream, an unattainable dream. So why has it gotten so bad? Over fishing, mis-management, and US. If more time was spent being reactive instead of trying to create new ways to provide a “fix”, I believe we would be better off.
This article explains the introduction of fish that were once there, but have disappeared. It also explains the disease that is being introduced by trying to put these fish in the river. Seems like we are just spinning the wheel to me. Again, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so please share. I look forward to it…..

Ahhh damn….now ive seen it all lol
29 10 2009So I was reading through the papers today and saw an article about soda and just had to say something lol. First of all, the link to the article can be found here:
http://www.oregonlive.com/education/index.ssf/2009/10/does_drinking_too_much_soda_ma.html
After reading this article, it makes you wonder why people are even allowed to create items like this, and why they wouldn’t do further studies to ensure that no damage would be done to the human body. As far as I am concerned, if soda really makes people “dumber”, then why isn’t it considered as bad as smoking? They both fight against the body, making it incapable of a completely healthy life. Soda rots teeth, cigarettes rot lungs, whats going to come next? The other day I was reading an article (im not sure where, sorry for that) that explained how many different chemicals and “bad” ingredients were in almost everything we use during our normal daily duties. If you think about it, you first wake up in the morning and take a shower, there are chemicals in the soap and shampoo that we use. We brush our teeth, there are chemicals and preservatives in the toothpaste. For the ladies, do you think your make-up has any chemicals in it? I would bet so. What about the cologne and perfume that we spray, or the deodorant?
So many people complain about being unhealthy, but also talk about how good our doctors are at making people feel better. Imagine how much better they would be if they didn’t have to fight against all of the stuff we deal with on a daily basis. I wonder how long we would all live if we got rid of all the chemicals and “preservatives” that harm our body? Lol we could go back to the stone age and make soap from plants and drink just water, and stop smoking cigarettes.
I know that there are two sides to every store, and of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so lets here them. A lot of the things that we use everyday are considered “necessities” because we as a whole accept them as that. I’m interested to hear everyone’s opinions on this, even if you don’t agree! Until next time….

Washington and Oregon Drivers!
23 10 2009Ok, Ok, I know that many of you have the same thoughts, so don’t try to bash me because you are too scared to say something about it. I dont really understand how people who live in a climate that provide’s rain 70-80% of the year can’t adapt to the driving conditions and actually drive safely!
Even though it was almost 12 years ago (and in California), I remember being taught in driving school that people should drive defensively but not aggressively. After driving up here for the past three years, I find myself doing both. It seems that the simple thought and process of lane merging is too complicated for even the most experience of drivers. Currently I spent almost three hours a day commuting to work, so I see many stupid or thoughtless if you will, driving maneuvers. It pisses me off because the reason why our insurance rates and a decent chunk of the taxes we pay are related to people not taking the time to make smart decisions.
Everyone is in such a rush these days that they don’t stop and take the time to realize what is important, LIFE! Put your damn cell phones down, get up a bit earlier and have a nice breakfast at home. Save your car’s interior and someone’s life. It would be a pretty bad feeling if you had to wake up in the morning knowing that you killed someone in an accident because you couldn’t take a few minutes to eat a nice, safe breakfast at home!
Sorry for this blog to seem like a bunch of whining, but for the past couple of days I have been wondering why it is so hard to just stop and take a few minutes to just breathe. I hope that everyone takes a minute to think about what I wrote because life goes by way too fast.

A fine example of someone talking on the cell phone while driving and the problems it causes
